Just what Albuquerque needs, right? "Another" pizza joint.
A chain, no less.
And on the West Side? Great.
Actually - yeah. Great!
N.Y.P.D. is a chain restaurant out of Florida, a West Side establishment and the first such eatery opened in New Mexico.
The theme is Bronx kitsch - there are framed sets of police badges on the walls - and the pies are decidedly New York-style.
Each pizza boasts a hand-tossed thin crust, and is high on cheese and low on sauce.
For $5.99 (and 99 cents per extra topping), you can get a 10-inch personal pie loaded with melted mozzarella. I like mine with fresh tomato and mushrooms, which are finely diced here, a nice, easy-to-eat touch - making it less New Yorkish, I admit.
Or, you can keep it cheesy and still have cash left over for the delicious Garlic Twists, a $1.99 appetizer made of soft, flavorful bread rolls served with the house marinara on the side.
