An Albuquerque man could face up to four decades in prison after being convicted in Metro Court of more than 100 counts of animal abuse.
Jurors in metro court deliberated for less than an hour on Aug. 21 before finding Mohamed Kassabji guilty on 111 counts. The charges stem from an incident in December when he was found with 21 puppies in his van without adequate food and water and in crowded cages.
A judge had previously ordered Kassabji to stay away from all dogs.
Kassabji's attorney said the Aug. 21 verdict would be appealed.
